Wanderers and the town of Bolton again came together in memorable style to celebrate the Whites’ promotion to the Championship.
Thousands of fans filled Victoria Square in the town centre as Bolton Council staged a civic reception to recognise the success of Steven Schumacher and his team following their famous Wembley win in Sunday’s League One play-off final.
Promotion means Wanderers are back at Championship level for the first time since 2019 and also seven years on from when the club was saved from potential oblivion by the current owners.
Club chairman Sharon Brittan was lauded by the fans, who were thanked for their support – along with business partners, sponsors, community leaders and Bolton Council – by board member Nick Luckock.
Schumacher, who has taken his place in club history by guiding the Whites to promotion in his first full season as head coach, also spoke to supporters from the stage, along with Wembley Player of the Match Sam Dalby and several of his team-mates among joyous scenes on the town hall steps.
The party atmosphere continued more than 24 hours of celebration following Wanderers’ epic 4-1 win over Stockport County. Close to 30,000 Wanderers’ fans basked in the baking sun at Wembley to form a ‘White Wall’ which roared Schumacher’s men to glory on a day we will never forget.
Bolton Wanderers would like to thank Bolton Council for staging the civic reception and their on-going support of the club and Bolton Wanderers in the Community.
