Schumacher | Stick With It

Steven Schumacher is confident that the results will come after his side had to settle for a point with Lincoln City despite another positive home performance.

A Tom Hamer own goal from an Amario Cozier-Duberry cross cancelled out Freddie Draper's opener inside the first minute to make it a third consecutive draw for Wanderers in League One.

For the Head Coach, whilst frustrated his side didn't take all three points, he was pleased with the character of the players to come from behind and claim a point at the death.

"It was another mad game - and it's the same outcome as the other night but this feels completely different because of the circumstances," he said.

"But I'm delighted with the players as they kept going and I think over the last two games at home, the football that we've played has been really good.

"The chances we've created have been excellent and we will be a good team - everyone's just got to stick with it and be patient, and I'm confident it's going to come because there's not many teams that are playing as well as we are at the moment."

Going behind inside a minute through Draper's head offered a very early challenge for Wanderers, but Schumacher was pleased with the way in which his side responded when looking to get back into the game.

"Lincoln are one of the most difficult teams to play against if they go ahead," he said.

"I know their coach really well and they pride themselves on being really organised and difficult to beat. They do the brilliant basics really well and it's difficult when they can sit in and protect a lead so we had to be patient, had to probe and we changed our shape a little bit in the first half.

"We went with a single pivot and two eights instead with the players who really suit that. We got the full backs a bit higher - meaning the wingers were a bit higher and we just increased the tempo slightly.

"That was the difference as it's not easy for the players to keep doing the right things. There was 90 minutes to try and get back into the game and we managed to do it."

It has been a tough opening run of fixtures for the Whites with five league games, and a Carabo Cup tie, inside the opening 20 days of the season.

With a full week's worth of training ahead of Saturday's trip to Bloomfield Road, the Head Coach is looking forward to more work on the field to refresh and attack the game in Blackpool.

"It's been a tough start as we've played some good teams," he said.

"Lincoln are in really good form and we've had to really fight for everything that we've got on the board so mentally the lads have give us everything.

"I keep saying it but their running stats and the effort that they have given us is cannot be questioned so that's brilliant and we can reset now and get back to work next week.

"We now go into a really exciting game for us, away to Blackpool, so we're really looking forward to that but for now, we need to rest up and get ready to go again."
