If you were in the Toughsheet on Tuesday, you watched Bolton Wanderers go at West Ham United. Not sit off them, not admire them. Go at them.
That is worth sitting with for a second. 12 months ago this club was in League One. On Tuesday it took a side that played Premier League football last season all the way to the 95th minute and the Head Coach was in no mood to apologise for where his players stand.
"We're in this division as well and we deserve to be up against them," Schumacher said. "We just gone toe to toe with a Premier League team last year and we were League One.
"The lads are doing really well. They're playing extremely well. They're competing with top teams."
Look at who is doing it. Max Conway spent two seasons ago in League Two and last season in League One and on Tuesday he spent 90 minutes marking one of the best wingers in the country.
There was Kyliane Dong too, a young forward who came over from France in the summer and made his first start on Tuesday. He won the penalty and looked like he had been here for years.
"I thought young Kyliane was brilliant. He's been getting stronger and stronger as the weeks have gone by since he's been here," the Head Coach said. "He was really, really clean and composed with his technique. He was excellent."
Josh Sheehan is available again after his red card was overturned earlier in the day and Schumacher has been enjoying watching him settle into the division.
"I can't believe he's never played in the Championship before, because it just looks like he belongs there."
He was asked what the support has meant through a demanding month, with four of the division's stronger sides already ticked off.
"We always knew this was going to be a challenge, this league. We've played Lincoln, really good team, Sheffield United, Millwall and West Ham, who will all be in the top six. And we're doing loads of good stuff and the players are giving everything that they've got," he said.
"If the attitude's there and the mentality is there, that we're not going to just stand and admire anyone, we're going to have a go, we're going to try and compete, then the fans, I'm sure, will appreciate it."
"I'm not soft and they're not soft. We know we need to get points on the board. But if you keep playing well, then the results will come."
Cardiff City on Saturday, then. Same four points as us, two places above us, and a side Schumacher rates.
"It's a huge game. They were brilliant last year. We know how they play, they're really expansive, they create loads of chances. That was one of our hardest games we had here last year, if you remember that. Won it late on."
Plenty of you do remember it.
