Steven Schumacher welcomed another win which propelled Wanderers into the second round of the FA Cup and extended the Whites’ home run.
Schumacher’s men made it three successive victories as they repeated their recent 2-1 League One win over League One rivals Huddersfield Town.
First goals for the club from Ibby Cissoko and Richard Taylor also extended Wanderers’ unbeaten home record, with only a penalty shoot-out defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup blotting the copy-book this season.
“It was another good win for us,” said Schumacher after a successful first FA Cup success as Wanderers’ boss extended his side’s winning home run to seven games in all competitions.
“You never get bored of winning. We spoke on Thursday about trying to keep the momentum and keep the record going here because we've been really good at home.
“The main objective was to get into the hat. That's what we said to the lads, to keep the momentum going and keep the belief going.
“We're playing well and if keep going and playing with that confidence we’ll be hard beat here, which we were, so I'm delighted.”
Schumacher made seven changes to his starting line-up, including starts for Cissoko and Taylor, whose goals either side of a second-half equaliser from Town striker Bojan Radulovic took the Whites into next Monday night’s second-round draw.
And the boss was delighted with the impact of those handed a chance, including the fit-again Kyle Dempsey who looked sharp off the bench in only his second appearance of the season.
“We've said there shouldn't be a drop-off in the level of performance because the squad is pretty balanced and there's competition for places in all areas,” Schumacher added.
“For the lads who stepped in it was an opportunity for them to stake a claim and I thought they did that. Overall, it was a good performance from everyone that came into the team. It keeps everybody in the squad at it.
“For large periods we were really good. We had to defend as well for certain periods of the second half, which we knew we’d have to do because Huddersfield are a good team.
“We knew it would be a good standard game between two good League One teams, so I'm pleased with the result and glad we're in the next round.”
