Club legend John McGinlay will be representing Wanderers this weekend in the Scottish 'March of the Day', supporting the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation and the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
The three-day walk, which takes between October 10-12, will cover 146-miles and visit up to 22 stadiums on the way between Motherwell and Murrayfield, all in aid of raising money in search of a cure for MND.
Following the previous successful walks, of which John was part of across England, the March of the Day now moves up to Scotland with the aim of bringing further awareness and follow the incredible work of the likes of Doddie Weir, Stephen Darby and Rob Burrow in recent times.
Super John is one of a core group of 28 people who will complete the walk in a relay, with a number of former sportsman, from both football and rugby, taking part to help raise money and awareness of both foundations and the wider MND community.
The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation is co-named after former footballer Stephen Darby who started his career at Liverpool, played most of his games for Bradford and finished his playing career with Wanderers after being diagnosed with MND in 2018.
The 37-year-old has since been a tireless campaigner for the Foundation and the wider MND community since that point as he continues his fight against the disease.
Launched in 2017, the My Name '5 Doddie Foundation also carries the same purpose, in that their vision is simple: to find 'A World Free of MND'. Named after Scottish rugby international Doddie Weir, who fought ferociously and inspirationally against MND before his passing in 2022, the Foundation's work continues to this day in trying to raise awareness and money in search of a cure.
Anyone wishing to donate to support the walk and work of both Foundations - with over £24,000 already raise, you can do so via a link HERE.
Good luck all - and good luck, Super John!
