Wanderers make 10 changes to their starting line-up but still field an experienced side in their bid to make it two wins out of two in the Vertu Trophy.
Defender George Johnston is the only one who started last Saturday’s derby win over Wigan who stays in the team to face Manchester City’s youngsters, who also won their opening game in Group E.
Eoin Toal returns as captain and there are also places for Sam Dalby, Cyrus Christie, Charlie Warren and Richard Taylor, who are yet to start a league game so far this season.
And there is a welcome return on the bench for fit-again Kyle Demspey, who is set to figure for the first time since April.
City are captained by former Wanderers’ loanee Luke Mbete and include Reigan Heskey – son of former Whites’ striker Emile – on the bench.
