Temporary Dale Deal For Conway

Max Conway Chester

B Team wing-back Max Conway has today moved on loan to National League side Rochdale.

The 19-year-old will stay with Dale - who dropped out of the EFL last season - until January as he looks to gain further first-team experience.

Conway made 26 appearances in National League North last season during a successful loan stay with Buxton.

The left-sided player, who came through the youth ranks at Wanderers before signing a first professional contract with the Whites in the summer of 2022, now steps up a level and could be involved for the first time when Rochdale host Bromley on Friday night.

Manchester-born Conway started the B Team’s opening Central League fixture at Preston on Tuesday following a number of substitute appearances for the first team during pre-season.

As well as developing as part of the B Team squad, the Whites are also keen to provide loan opportunities to many of their young players to further their experience of competitive senior football.

Boss Ian Evatt said: “Max had a good a loan last season, but we needed to step him up the pyramid now and Rochdale is a very good football club.

“I know first-hand how tough the National League can be, so I think it’s a step forward for Max and hopefully he goes there and shows everyone what he’s about and progresses again.”
