Bolton Wanderers can confirm that the club and Cyrus Christie have reached a mutual agreement to bring the defender’s contract to an early conclusion.
Cyrus joined Wanderers in September 2025 and quickly became a respected figure both on the pitch and around the training ground. A vastly experienced right-back with more than 450 senior appearances and 30 caps for the Republic of Ireland behind him, he brought a level of know-how that proved genuinely valuable during a memorable campaign -one that ended with promotion to the Championship at Wembley.
During his time with Wanderers, he made a total of 30 appearances.
Head Coach Steven Schumacher said: “Cyrus has been a pleasure to work with from the first day he walked through the door. He’s an outstanding professional, a really good guy and the sort of experienced head every dressing room needs - particularly during a season like the one we’ve just had. Due to the signings we have made in the defensive unit this summer, we realised that his minutes on the pitch may have been limited, and therefore we agreed it was best for him to move on elsewhere. We wish him well for the future.”
