Top Goal Prize For Paris

Paris Maghoma goal of the month

Paris Maghoma has won the SkyBet League One Goal of the Month award for February to keep the prize in Wanderers’ possession.

Maghoma followed up Zac Ashworth’s winning effort in January with the pick of the goals last month – according to the views of Sky Sports’ EFL experts Don Goodman and David Prutton and the results of a fans’ vote.

The midfielder’s superb solo effort in Wanderers’ 3-3 draw with Charlton Athletic saw him top a four-man shortlist, which also included efforts from Femi Azeez of Reading, Beryly Lubala of Wycombe Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town’s Jordan Shipley.

The judges said: “Maghoma changed direction five times as he searched for a way to prise open the Charlton defence. After finding he couldn’t go through it, he went over with a sublime clipped curler.”

Maghoma’s winning strike was his sixth goal of the season and the 22-year-old has since added two more to his tally to help the Whites’ promotion push.

The on-loan Brentford man said: “I wanted to score more goals this season and playing in this team has given me lots of opportunities.

“This one has probably been the best of them and I’m delighted it was chosen to win the award.

“I’d like to thank the judges and the fans who voted for it and hopefully there are still one or two more goals to come this season to help us win the games we need to secure promotion.”
