The Whites will now face Blackpool or Wigan in the last four of the county cup as they bid to regain the trophy they won two seasons ago.
In the other half of the draw Blackburn Rovers have received a bye into the semi-finals, while Burnley take on Preston North End.
Danny Clarke’s side are next in action at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday after securing their first win in the U18 Professional Development League last weekend.
