The new-look U21s made it three wins out of three in pre-season with an impressive victory over National League North side Boro.
The young Whites faced their toughest test yet in their build-up to the new campaign, which will see them playing in the Professional Development League.
And they came through in impressive style with a team missing a couple of players on senior duty and including four trialists in the starting line-up.
After David Abimbola had hit a post early on, captain Harry Leigh nodded Wanderers ahead.
Luke Hutchinson – who impressed on loan at National League level with Altrincham last season – then made a couple of decent saves to chalk up a welcome clean sheet with Julian Darby’s side making sure of victory with a goal from a trialist after the break.

Meanwhile, the U18s also continued their encouraging pre-season run with a 3-1 win over Blackpool thanks to goals from Alfie Baxter, Dan Ogboru and Sonny Coyne.
