The U21s launch their home programme in the Professional Development League with a behind-closed-doors meeting with Colchester United tomorrow (Tuesday).
Julian Darby’s side faces the U’s at Lostock (KO 1.30pm) with both sides looking to add to opening-day wins.
The Whites bounced back from their Premier League Cup defeat to QPR with a 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic, while Colchester kicked off their league season in the North-West with a 4-0 win at Fleetwood Town.
A stunning long-range Toby Ritchie strike gave Wanderers the points at Charlton, with Darby pleased to be up-and-running in a new competition.
“It was a bit like the first team game at the weekend where we had to dig in to keep a clean sheet, but we managed to nick a goal through Toby’s effort. It’s good to get the first points on the board and we’ll try and build on this,” said the U21s' boss.
Wanderers and Colchester are two of five teams to have registered wins so far, with the league table available to view HERE
