The U21s are back at the Toughsheet Community Stadium for Friday night football as they seek a first cup win.
Julian Darby’s side has made a flying start to the season with three straight victories in the Professional Development League putting them top of the table.
Their only loss so far came in their Premier League Cup opener at Queens Park Rangers and the young Whites now face their second game in Group A against Southampton.
The Saints play their football in Premier League 2 – recording a win and a draw in their opening two games – and kicked off their cup campaign with a 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers to sit top of the group.
“They’ve started the season well, so it’ll be a tough, tough game. We lost to QPR in the first game of the season, so we could really do with picking something up from this one,” said Darby who saw his team beat Coventry City 3-1 on Monday in their first game this season at the stadium.
Friday night’s fixture (KO 7pm) is also open to fans, with admission priced at £3 adults and £1 concessions, payable by card only on the gate at turnstile D near to main reception.
