Wanderers made a dream start to life back in the Championship as the ‘White Wall’ came home in style.
A 2-1 victory over local rivals Preston North End in front of a sold-out Toughsheet Community Stadium provided the perfect opening to the new campaign for Steven Schumacher’s men.
More than 26,000 supporters packed out the Toughsheet for Wanderers’ first full house since 2011, generating a stunning atmosphere and playing their part in a memorable afternoon.
Goals from Sam Dalby and Thierry Gale raised the roof as the Whites carried the momentum of their Wembley promotion triumph into the new season and marked their Championship return with three points.
And if Saturday whetted the appetite, there isn’t long to wait for the next big home afternoon on home soil.
Lincoln City are the visitors to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday, 29 August (KO 3pm), when Wanderers will be looking to build on their winning start.
Tickets are available now and, following the incredible backing for the season opener, supporters are encouraged to book early to secure the best available seats.
The White Wall made itself heard on Saturday.
