Bolton Wanderers Women make the trip to face Crewe Alexandra Women tomorrow afternoon, looking to return to winning ways in what promises to be a crucial league encounter in the North West Women’s Regional League Premier Division.
Bolton will be looking to bounce back in league action after suffering a difficult defeat to AFC Fylde in the Lancashire FA Women’s Senior Cup last weekend.
Crewe sit just one point behind Wanderers in the league, with both sides eyeing vital points as the season reaches a competitive stage. Crewe haven’t tasted victory since mid-December, though they showed fighting spirit in their most recent outing, earning a 1–1 draw against Mancunian Unity last weekend.
The teams met earlier in the season back in September, when the two sides played out an entertaining 1–1 draw at Victory Park. Faye Knox’s strike cancelled out Crewe’s opener, and despite Wanderers dominating chances for long periods, they had to settle for a share of the points.
With just one place separating the two sides, both teams will be wanting to close the gap on 4th place West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC Women, who sit just one point above Wanderers and two above Crewe.
