Women's Preview | Wanderers v AFC Fylde

preview 16x9

Bolton Wanderers Women return home on Sunday afternoon looking to make it three consecutive wins when taking on AFC Fylde at Victory Park, kick-off 2pm.

Myles Smith's side head into the fixture in positive mood following victories over West Didsbury & Chorlton and Curzon Ashton in midweek - scoring 13 goals in the process in two free-flowing displays.

The trip to Tameside Stadium on Wednesday evening - an 8-1 win for the Whites on the evening - was described as the 'complete performance' by Smith post-match, with Wanderers flying out the blocks early to sit 6-1 up at the break thanks to a Faye Knox hat-trick, a Lucy Walsh brace and goals for Abbie Brown, Madison Hardman and Sanah Mehdi.

Wanderers made four changes to their starting line-up in midweek, emphasising the need to rotate and freshen the side up given the gruelling fixture schedule during the opening two weeks of the season - but it did not disrupt their flow on the night.

But the Curzon victory was the perfect way to set up Sunday's game with the Coasters, who arrive in good form themselves having won their opening three games so far.

An opening day win over West Didsbury and Chorlton was backed up impressively by a 6-1 victory away to Fleetwood Town to secure their first away win of the season.

They were then 5-1 winners over Bury last time out on Sunday, with Danny Murphy's side having a free midweek to prepare for this weekend's fixture as they look to bounce back from relegation from Tier Four last season at the first time of asking.

But Wanderers this week made another impressive addition to their ranks with the signing of Imogen Longcake from Partick Thistle. The exciting and pacy forward arrives following a hugely successful spell up in Scotland, scoring 11 goals in 84 appearances and bolsters Smith's attacking options for Sunday's game.

With Sunday's game being the fifth game in the space of 14 days, the Whites will be looking to record victory on home soil to ensure they close this busy period with a positive result with a week's preparation for the trip to Mancunian Unity ahead of them.
