Bolton Wanderers Women head into Sunday's home game with Crewe Alexandra (kick-off 2pm) looking to make it back-to-back wins in the league and push themselves further up the NWWRL Premier Division table.
Goals from Faye Knox and Caitlin Clarke secured a very impressive victory on the road against Mancunian Unity last weekend - ended Unity's winning run to start to the season in the process.
It was a victory and performance that epitomised fight, desire and determination as Wanderers came out on the right side of an incredibly physical 90 minutes - added to torrential weather conditions - to record a vital three points and act as the perfect response to their defeat to AFC Fylde the week before.
Now the Whites return home to Victory Park looking to make it consecutive wins and record their first victory at their new home for the 2025/26 season.
Following tight defeats to FC United and AFC Fylde at Chorley, Wanderers have shown signs in both games that they should have taken points from both fixtures - making them even more determined to turn their fortunes around at home.
This is the last league fixture before Wanderers make their bow in two cup competitions in consecutive weeks - at home to Chester FC in the Adobe Women's FA Cup and away to Preston North End in the Alliance Design and Print Cup - so will be wanting to leave their league campaign with back-to-back wins to kickstart some momentum after a run of inconsistent results.
But in front of them stand a Crewe Alexandra side who have started the season in decent form. With four wins from their opening six games - and keeping three clean sheets in their last four - the visitors will offer another stern test for Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.
Currently sat 4th in the table with victories over Curzon Ashton, Tranmere Rovers, Poulton Vics and West Didsbury & Chorlton - Tasia Brough with a brace last time out agains the latter in a 2-0 win - Crewe will be wanting to record another statement victory to continue their decent start to the season.
