Bolton Wanderers Women delivered an emphatic performance on the road as they secured a commanding 9-1 victory over Fleetwood Town Women at Poolfoot Farm.
Having won 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season, Wanderers completed the double in dominant fashion to take a full six points from Fleetwood this campaign.
The result sees Tom Cunniff’s side remain third in the North West Women’s Regional League Premier Division as they continue to build momentum heading into the closing stages of the season.
Cunniff made several changes to his starting XI, with Woodward, Campbell and Hodson coming into the side, while Baldwin, Wilkinson, Thomas-Leek and Walsh were named among the substitutes.
Wanderers showed early attacking intent, with Abbie Brown threatening inside the opening four minutes, but it was Fleetwood who struck first on the 18-minute mark to put the Whites on the back foot.
The response was immediate, however. Maddie Leigh drew Wanderers level in the 21st minute, netting her first goal in a Wanderers shirt after sustained pressure down the wing.
Bolton continued to press and were rewarded on the stroke of half-time, as Eman Campbell found the net to turn pressure into a second goal and give Wanderers a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Cunniff introduced Ellie Thomas-Leek at the interval in place of Milla Hodson to make her Wanderers debut, while Maddison Hardman replaced Ella Tweedle as the Whites looked to build on their advantage.
The second half saw Wanderers raise the tempo significantly. Five minutes after the restart, Thomas-Leek delivered an excellent corner which Campbell powered home to extend the lead. Moments later, the pair combined again from another set-piece, with Campbell heading in her third of the afternoon to complete a superb hat-trick.
Zara Plano added another just before the hour mark with a composed finish as Wanderers began to assert complete control of the contest.
Further changes followed in the 70th minute, with Ella Tweedle and Hannah Baldwin introduced in place of Poppy Wallis and Campbell.
Brown added her first of the afternoon in the 74th minute before Leigh grabbed her second goal shortly after.
A handball inside the area presented Brown with the opportunity from the penalty spot with 87 minutes on the clock, which she converted confidently before completing her hat-trick late on to round off an outstanding attacking performance from the Whites.
Wanderers continued to press until the final whistle, capping a dominant second-half display and an impressive away performance.
