Xavier Simons | We're Looking Forward To It

Xavier Simons spoke of his excitement at the prospect of his first competitive outing at home this weekend when facing Plymouth at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Steven Schumacher's side take on Argyle (kick-off 3pm), looking to record their first win of the new campaign in front of over 21,000 on Saturday afternoon.

For Simons, a summer arrival from Hull City and debuted in last week's game against Stockport County, the midfielder is looking forward to running out on home soil in League One this weekend.

"We are all looking forward to it," he said.

"Personally, for me, I'm very excited to see the fans with it being the first home game and hopefully we've got plenty of fans there to help bring a good atmosphere and hopefully help us win.

"I've enjoyed it here since day one and I'm really feeling the love here. That's from the coaching staff, the people above and of course my team-mates. They have all been amazing and I've hit the ground running and I couldn't be happier.

"The support here is something that I've not had before, so it's really exciting. To be on this side of the support, and not as an opposition player like I have been, is amazing and is definitely something that we as a team can thrive off."

Standing in front of Wanderers is a Plymouth side also wanting to get up and running for the season following their opening day defeat to Barnsley at Home Park.

With a big crowd expected and a team full of quality coming down from the Championship, Simons knows of the threat they pose but insists Wanderers are ready for the challenge.

"We know Plymouth are a good side, but I think we know what kind of team we are," he said.

"In that we can dominate in possession and be hard to beat, so we know we're going to cause them a threat and, this time around, we've just got to put the ball in the back of the net.

"Plymouth have obviously set their expectations very high, same as us, but we're looking to go into the game and take all three points."
