B Team striker Ben Andreucci has joined Darlington on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old, who scored in Wanderers’ Central League win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, will get the chance of regular first-team football with the former EFL club.
The Quakers – managed by former Newcastle and Everton defender and Gateshead boss Steve Watson – are currently nine points off the play-off places in National League North with 12 games to go.
Andreucci, who made his first senior appearance for the Whites in their EFL Trophy tie at Wrexham last month, could make his debut at Hereford United on Saturday and joins a handful of young Wanderers’ players out on loan to gain first-team experience and enhance their future career prospects.
The former Leeds United youngster and Scotland youth international had a previous loan spell in National League North with Buxton.
Meanwhile, B Team colleague Sam Inwood has received his first international call-up after being named in Northern Ireland’s U21 squad.
The 19-year-old defender, who has also had a brief taste of first-team football with the Whites, has been included in a 23-man squad for a mini-tournament in Turkey which will act as a preparation for the next European U21 Championship qualifying programme.
