YOUTH UPDATE | Coventry City U18s 1 Wanderers 3

Xander Taylor

The Youth Team made it back-to-back wins as they started their Professional Development League Cup campaign with an impressive win at Coventry City.

The young Whites trailed 1-0 at half-time but hit back after the break to collect their first points in Group G thanks to goals from Xander Taylor (above), Lucas Kirkpatrick and Charlie Quirk.

Today's (Tuesday) 3-1 victory over the Sky Blues – a Category 2 academy who play a level above Wanderers in the Professional Development League – followed last Saturday’s opening league win of the campaign.

Julian Darby’s side, re-building with a largely new intake of scholars following last season’s EFL Youth Alliance title success, won 2-0 at Rotherham United thanks to goals from Jack Mawditt and Sonny Coyne to end a run of three straight losses to start the season.

The Youths get a breather this coming weekend before facing early league leaders Mansfield Town on Saturday-week.
