Summer Breed began playing football at the age of six with Rose Hill Rovers Boys before continuing her development with Stockport Vikings Girls.
Her career has since taken her through a number of clubs and environments, including Altrincham, West Didsbury, Huddersfield, TNS, AFC Fylde, Halifax and Blackburn, as well as a spell playing college football in the United States.
Summer’s time in America came after earning a scholarship, and she made an immediate impact by receiving Second Team All-Region recognition during her first semester.
She has also enjoyed significant success closer to home, winning the league and league cup with Altrincham on three occasions, while she has also been named Player of the League.
Summer joined Bolton Wanderers in search of a new challenge, with the professionalism surrounding the club and the project being built for the Women’s team key factors in attracting her to Wanderers.
A defender who can operate at both right-back and centre-back, Summer describes herself as aggressive, determined and hard-working. She identifies communication as her biggest strength on the pitch and places a strong emphasis on helping those around her.
Her ambitions with Wanderers are to help the team win the league, secure promotion to Tier 4 and progress as far as possible in the FA Cup.
Get to know Summer
Lucy Bronze was Summer’s footballing idol growing up. As a player in the same position, Summer admired both her leadership and her willingness to work hard for the team on and off the pitch.
One of Summer’s earliest football memories is watching Ipswich Town at Portman Road for the first time, which remains her favourite stadium she has visited or played at.
Away from football, Summer enjoys socialising with friends and works as a Money Advisor.
Her pre-match routine is simple but important – the right sock and right boot always have to go on first.
And something Wanderers supporters might not know? Summer has three brothers and has also played football in America.
