Molly Wood began playing football at around the age of six with Horwich St Mary’s, starting a journey that has also included spells with Bolton Wanderers, Chester and Chorley.
One of the proudest moments of Molly’s career came when she re-signed for Wanderers. With much of her family supporting Bolton, returning to the club carried an extra significance and gave her the chance to see just how proud they were of her.
Her career has also included the experience of winning the BT Pub Cup, with the final played at Wembley.
Molly’s route back to Bolton came through former Chorley teammate Grace Vella, who put her in touch with Head Coach Tom Cunniff. After speaking about the club’s ambitions and meeting the rest of the squad, Molly felt the opportunity was impossible to turn down.
An attacking player who can operate on the wing or through the middle, Molly describes herself as hard-working and someone who is always communicating on the pitch.
Her biggest strength, though, is her competitiveness. Molly approaches every fixture as if it were a cup final and prides herself on never giving up.
Her ambition with Wanderers is to help the club achieve promotion to Tier 4 – and then continue climbing beyond it.
