Northern Irishman Toal started out at home club Armagh City before starting his senior career with League of Ireland side Derry City in 2017.

The defender played over 150 games for the Candy Stripes and as well as captaining the club was capped by Northern Ireland up to U21 level.

After completing Derry's Europa Conference League campaign, Toal joined Wanderers on a three-year deal in July, 2022.

His first three appearances for the Whites came in the Papa Johns Trophy before making a league debut in December, 2022 and going onrto establish himself in Wanderers' central defensive line-up.
