PREVIEW: Wanderers Women vs Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies

Bolton Wanderers Women return to league action this weekend as they welcome Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies. Wanderers are looking to bounce back after their narrow FA Cup defeat on penalties to Ponteland United a fortnight ago.

It's been a busy week for signings for Wanderers, with six players — Poppy Wallis, Ella Tweedle, Emmanuella Campbell, Tegan Higgins, Ebony Wilkinson, and Scarlett Dearden joining the first team from the pathway system, along with Milla Hodson who also returns to the first-team fold, after spending some time within the first team environment last season.

Wanderers have also strengthened with two new arrivals from Manchester United. Sienna Limbert, a dynamic attacker with England youth caps and previous experience at Wolves and Halifax, joins the club permanently, while Jess Nwachukwu links up on dual registration after featuring in United’s 2024 Youth FA Cup-winning squad. The new additions bring fresh energy and quality as Wanderers return to league action this weekend, following a walkover win and a bye into round two of the Design and Alliance Cup.

After a weekend without a fixture, Wanderers will be eager to get back on the pitch and turn their recent performances into points. Tom Cunniff's side have shown plenty of promise in recent weeks and have only lost one in their last five, and this will be an opportunity to respond positively from their FA Cup loss.

Fleetwood, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win of the season. The Wrens were beaten 2–1 at home by West Didsbury & Chorlton before suffering penalty heartbreak last weekend, losing 4–3 in the Design and Alliance Cup after a 1–1 draw with Curzon Ashton.

After a series of strong performances and hard-fought victories, Wanderers will look to carry their momentum in the league and respond positively to their recent defeat.
