What Is The Wanderers Bond?

Following Thursday’s announcement of the Wanderers Bond, more than 2,700 people have already pre-registered to receive exclusive investment access. The following provides further information on what the Bond is, and the steps you need to take to invest…

The Wanderers Bond

Driven by a mission to create success and sustainability across all areas, the Board and Management have already delivered positive results on the pitch, including April’s Papa Johns Trophy victory, and stability across the Club’s finances.

Now, as they look ahead to the next exciting chapter, the Bolton Wanderers Board are inviting supporters, members of the community and other investors to invest in the Club and share in its future successes.

Speaking about why the Wanderers Bond was valuable for the Club, CEO Neil Hart said, “Through a combination of this Bond and Ownership investment, there are some important and significant projects and investment opportunities, which will put the Club on a stronger foundation for the future.”

Use of Proceeds

In order to support the Club’s mission to compete in the Sky Bet Championship, important investments are needed to improve the sporting and commercial competitiveness of Bolton Wanderers FC.

Funds raised from the Wanderers Bond will be used to supplement sporting enhancements including player recruitment, training facilities and advanced sports science, and to the development of revenue generating facilities at the University of Bolton Stadium and for improving connectivity at the stadium.

How Will the Wanderers Bond Work?

Effectively a loan to the Club, the Wanderers Bond will pay a fixed rate of interest over its five-year term, after which the amount invested will be repaid to the Bondholder. The key terms of the Wanderers Bond are as follows:

  • 10% Championship Bonus payable upon the Club competing in the Sky Bet Championship from the 24/25 season (either via promotion from League One or retaining their Championship status)
  • ISA Eligible for tax-free returns through an Innovative Finance ISA
  • Minimum investment £500 and in increments of £500 (no maximum investment)
